Meet and Greet Principal Draper
Greetings, Cardinals!
I am so excited to be your school leader and I would like to take a moment to share a little bit about myself and my goals for the new school year at a meet-and greet meeting. I would like to invite all Cardinal families to my first Meet-and-Greet on Monday, July 10 at 5:00 PM in the school gym. If you are unable to attend this one, there is another one scheduled for August 3rd with more details will be sent soon.
As an educational leader, I believe in frequent, open, and positive communication. I believe in supporting all students as they achieve success. I am consistently visible and approachable. I am eager to be a part of your school team, and I know what an amazing place Cardinal Charter Academy is. I know firsthand how difficult unexpected change can be, but I also know that change can bring so many new opportunities to learn and grow. I am ready to get started and am enthusiastic about the upcoming year.
My experiences have been vast and varied. I’ve taught grades seven through twelve as well as adults. I’ve been an administrator at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. I have been committed to this profession for the past twenty-three years, and my passion for education is unwavering!
My Bachelor’s Degree is in English and Education, and I went straight into teaching upon graduation from college. I taught middle school and high school Language Arts and English for seven years. While teaching, I earned my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. I then went into administration to continue my role as educational leader. I earned my Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis while working as an administrator. I have also taught master’s level classes to educators for the University of Phoenix. Additionally, I am an elementary grades student teacher supervisor and have had the privilege of watching new teachers grow and become educational leaders.
Personally, I am happily married to someone who understands how much time I devote to my school and my career. He is the Associate Program Director for the Cone Health Sports Medicine Fellowship as well as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at UNC. He too is committed to the profession of education and knows how critical a strong foundation can be for future success.
Thank you in advance for accepting me into your school family. By working together, we will make 2017-2018 an amazing year!
When you come to the meet-and greet, please park and come through the gym doors in the back of the school. I look forward to meeting each and every one of you!
Sincerely,
Becky Draper, Ed.D.
